Find of the Day

I love this. You will too.

Settling In

I grew up moving from state to state, as you may remember. And I've carried that restless spirit into adulthood. In fact, I haven't lived anywhere longer than 7 years (and 7 years seems so long to be anywhere). My dear husband is just the opposite. He was born and raised in the same town. His parents, grandparents, and (some) extended family still live in that same town. That's very odd to me, seeing as my grandparents live in California and Texas and my extended family is spread throughout the globe. My side is somewhat nomatic, we love to be on the move. So when DH and I got married, I started planning a move. To Iowa? To Bend? To California? To Ireland?

"We couldn't possibly stay in the same spot! The notion!" I gasped.

But I think I am changing. *Extra Gasp* I've started looking at houses in this area...and have been getting excited. The thought of knowing my neighbors, going to the same store, having my kids in the same school with the same friends is actually....appealling to me. Weird, I know!

We are looking closely at a little town in Washington (yes, it'd be a move to another state but only a few miles away from where we are now). Said little town has a great real estate market right now and an even better school distric. Oh the notion!

I am excited. But don't tell anyone. *Smiles*

What does it mean?

I had a nightmare that this man was trying to get me to fall in love with him. If you grew up in a contemporary Christian home in the early 90s, you'll understand my terror.

The song that takes you back

Is there a particular song that reminds you of a time? A song that takes you back in time as soon as its tune reaches your ears? You close your eyes and suddenly you have gone back in time. Yes, I have a song like that. And I cringe when I hear it. I can't even type it without hearing its screeching in my head.

"Benny and the Jets" *cringe*

I worked at Hallmark for a few months awhile ago. My time there was unbearable less than ideal. Hearing Michael Buble or Elton John over and over and over again is enough to make anyone sick. But whenever I hear "Benny and the Jets" nowadays, I want to throw myself under a chair in the anticipation of an onslaught of old ladies looking for useless knickknacks and yelling about the boxes being bent.

Someone turn it off before I run from the room screaming, "NO, WE ARE OUT OF MICKEY MOUSE FIGURINES"

I am going to my happy place now.

Do I Really Need to Say it?

Blogs. I love to blog. I love to read blogs. Where else can I befriend someone so different from me? Moms, DINKS (double income, no kids), singles, hippies, yuppies, rich, and poor; we are all bounded through our blogs. It's a wonderful invention. And I adore you all.

Writing. I love to write. Sometimes my French grammar and my English grammar combine, creating its own grammar (Frenlish? Engrench?), but hey, I do it because I love it. A million readers or one, I am happy with my blog!

Happy Blogging!

The Reason for my smile today

I have the best husband.

Always the Tom-Boy

I've always been a tom-boy. As a kid, I loved to climb trees and beat up the neighborhood boys (sometimes at the same time). I was the most valuable player in my street hockey league. I did love my Cabbage patch dolls but insisted that they had to be boy dolls. I had a Buddy doll. And my favorite movie was Terminator 2. A leather jacket and a dirt bike were always on my Christmas lists. I was your classic tom-boy.

Apparently, I never outgrew it.

Sometimes, while playing this game on the Xbox, I wonder why I am not more girly. You won't find a plethora of shoes in my closet (I think I have 3 or 4 pairs total), I've never owned Citizen skinny jeans, and I care nothing about purses. I wear makeup on occasion and only if I am bored enough to put it on. Romantic movies seldom interest me. I prefer my flip flops to heels any day.

I am just your classic tom-boy....until I see a baby. And that is a topic for another post!
